Solo Piano Competition

September 23-26, 2010
Age limit: 17-35
Free repertoire, including

a Lyric Piece by Edvard Grieg

and

a new piece (durata 4 min) by the Norwegian composer Kjell Mørk Karlsen specially composed     for the competition. The score can be downloaded here.

  • 1st Round, September 23-24, from 10 am to 6 pm (Høgskolen i Oslo, Festsalen i Anna Sethnes Hus, Pilestredet 52): The contestants play 25 minutes from their free repertoire, including the new piece by Kjell Mørk Karlsen.

  • 2nd Round, September 25, from 10 am to 6 pm (Norwegian Academy of Music, Lindeman Hall, Slemdalsveien 11): The contestants play 40 minutes from their free repertoire, however with one Lyric Piece by Grieg.
    Repetition of pieces from the 1st round is allowed.

  • Final, September 26, from 6 pm to 9 pm (Norwegian Academy of Music, Lindeman Hall, Slemdalsveien 11): 25 minutes of free solo repertoire (Repetition of pieces from the 1st and 2nd rounds is allowed.) In addition to this, the new piece by Kjell Mørk Karlsen, and Grieg: Piano Concerto a minor 1st movement. The latter is played together with Oslo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jan Ola Amundsen.
